5pm STRAIGHT, NOT NARROW (shorts program)
Five short movies about straight guys dealing with their friend's homosexuality and sometimes with their own as well.
CURIOUS THING about the love affair between two men and whether or not each can handle it.
CLUB SCENE: THE UNDER-AGER about four straight new york friends dealing with some unusual desires and thoughts for a straight man. This is one episode in a series of short films, all dealing with clubbing in New York City.
FRIDAY'S CHILD to me was actually about two young men discovering their desires for men and for each other.
DROWNING about a young man and his friend who has a new girlfriend. You can imagine the feelings this situation brings up.
THE SAMARITAN about a gay man who decides to help out a straight man who is down on his luck. Although I totally disagree with the ending. Think it changes the whole feel of the movie and is not logical.
7 15pm ANOTHER MOVIE OF LOVE
Two boys in Chile become reacquainted and discovery more then just a rekindled friendship. Good thing the title tells you what the movie is about because it is long, dragging and very very boring. You need more then just a beautiful looking boy to make a movie interesting. Film makers need to take responsibility for the images they show and the messages they send and need to stop with all this unnecessary drug use in movies. There is enough of a drug and alcohol problem in the Gay community without adding to it and showing it as something that is okay. It is not okay.
9 45pm BUFFERING
A British comedy about a gay couple who use voyeurism to get back on the financial track. Some of it is funny but not much and the acting is very amateurish. Most just drags on and becomes boring, even the sex scenes. Again need more then a cute guy or two to make a good movie. Guess cheating, which is very prevalent in gay films and seen as almost accepted, is okay as long as it is on camera and your lover is involved, and your roommate. Surprisingly not the worst movie in the festival.
