May 25th INSIDEOUT Day 7

http://www.insideout.ca/

7 15pm (but started 45 minutes late) HOGTOWN HOMOS (Short program)

This is the annual showcase of film makers from our great movie city of Toronto. Its called Hogtown cause that's one of Toronto's old nick names. 13 shorts from home grown talents. A few to mention for really standing out.
A DRAGGED OUT AFFAIR is kinda the story of Romeo and Juliet told from the Drag Queen section of our community. Very funny with some great lines and an very interesting and well designed set. Actual Drag Queens were used in this movie but can not guarantee none of them were hurt. Drag Queens can be vicious.
MAKING LADIES is a good, short doc about artist Allyson Mitchel and here sculpture of Sasquatch Ladies.
SEEKING SINGLE WHITE MALE is a short movie about an Indian man and his troubles finding an partner in the gay scene. Would have liked to see more done with this one but what was there was well done.
SHE SAID LENNY is a very funny movie about a woman and the online dating scene and how it sometimes does not turn out the way you expect it to. Very sweet and inspiring for us single people out there.
52 was written by and stars KIDS IN THE HALL star Scott Thompson. It is about a man's greatest fears. Even knowing that, it seems to be about a lot of things, but it is funny.

10pm THE GUIDE (O XENAGOS)

This is a Greek movie about a tour guide in Athens and his trouble with the foreigners he guides on an architecture tour of the ancient city. The reason this movie is in this festival is because the people around him see his gay side more then he does, and then the convincing begins. This is Director Zacharias Mavroeidis' first time in Toronto and his first feature film. Its also the first time the movie has been shown to an International audience, which seems to have liked the movie. Unfortunately, except for a few funny bits I found the movie to drag and to be a bit boring. There was more about the group dynamic and about Greek culture and how it is viewed by the world then there was about being gay and coming out.
