Jan 28th THE MECHANIC

They finally showed a movie in the new UltraAVX in cinema 2 at the Scotiabank theatre, here in Toronto. Digital projector that looks great. Race car like seats made of pleather (leather substitute made from plastic) that don't seem bigger and feels kinda weird when you sit on them, almost like when you sit on a leather car seat that been in the sun all day long and not been washed properly. The strangest thing is the assigned seating. I had to buy my friends ticket at the same time I bought mine so we would end up sitting together. On the ticket machine screen the seats I picked were center but seemed to be lower down then we normally sit. Sheldon from THE BIG BANG THEORY (One of my favourite Televison shows) has it right when he says there is a sweet spot in a movie theatre for both sound and sight. When we went into the theatre our seats were in a great place and around where we would have picked anyways so it worked out well, except for the stupid ignorant couple behind us that would not keep their idiots mouths shut. The one clear advantage to assigned seating is that because my friend was late and we went into theatre just before movie started we still got the seats we wanted. It would be difficult to find the numbers on the seat if the previews had already started, but then again I hate going in after they started anyways, much rather go early.
Guess I should talk about the movie THE MECHANIC as well here. The movie as good but the fight scenes were filmed too close to enjoy, which is strange cause they go out of their way to show the effects of people getting shot. Seems to be little action but what there is is intense and exciting so the movie is certainly not boring, but got the feeling there was supposed to be more to it. In today's world of numerous sequels, am sure there will be a part two.
Seems this movie is a loose remake of a Charles Bronson 1972 movie called THE MECHANIC as well. I think I will check out the original and see how they compare.
