June 15th RUBBER (DVD)

For a few years now Hollywood has run out of ideas and have done very little except to  make sequels and remakes not  only of older movies but also of foreign movies. There has been very little originality in the American movie industry of late, unless it was to make a comic book hero movie.
RUBBER is definitely an original movie and an original way of telling the story of the movie. When you first find out that the story is of a tire that rolls around and kills animals and people with telekinesis powers you are like, "It does what?". However, as with a story a movie can have anything at all happen as long as it happens within the reality of the world created for that movie. In a movie about the modern world we live in a man cannot fly, yet in the world created by the movie SUPERMAN, not only can he fly but he is super strong. And that all makes sense. It is when it doesn't make sense that the movie is not enjoyable.
The clerk at the video store I go to said he had not seen RUBBER yet but heard good things about it. I expressed my hopes that it would be at least better then HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, which thankfully it was a lot better.
