Is SKYLINE a great SCI_FI, alien invasion movie? No. Is it a good movie? Not really, although it would have done extremely well as a T.V movie. The thing is, it is an entertaining movie. There is a good build up of suspense and some really good special effects. The main problems are the bad acting and the even worse writing. Obviously a lot of people forget that the main reason for movies is to entertain us. Both the audiences and the movie makers are forgetting this.
What I don't understand is that a lot of people liked the 2008 movie CLOVERFIELD. I thought it sucked, not just eggs but rotten eggs. With a horrible THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999) like shaky camera effect throughout the whole movie and a very poor story, where hardly anything happens, CLOVERFIELD was really really bad. The worse was when the monster/alien shows up and I still say that creature was taken from somewhere else but for the life of me can not remember where.
On a side note people should realize that just because they don't like a movie it doesn't mean they can sit there and talk about it and disturb the rest of the people watching. If you give SKYLINE a chance it can be entertaining, but still see it on a cheap night or rent it on DVD. What you shouldn't do is talk in a theatre, during any movie. Stop being rude and selfish. Yes you paid for your ticket, so did everyone else. You paid to sit there and watch the movie and to listen to it not to ruin other people's experiences.
