Once again a remake, though this time its a Chinese remake of a Hollywood movie. A Coen brothers dark comedy called BLOOD SIMPLE.
Its supposed to be a comedy, but there is not much comedy. There is very little character development as well.
The characters are stereotypes but only half way. Complete stereotypes would have been funnier.
The story is a little too simple but the adaption to ancient rural china is a good one.
Overall not a bad movie but not a really really good one either.
After watching this movie I went to my favourite DVD store and rented the original Coen brothers movie but haven't as yet watched it.
