Sept 17th TIFF DI SI ZHANG HUA (THE FOURTH PORTRAIT)

The Second feature from Taiwanese director Chung Mong-Hong with phenomenal acting, especially from 11 year old Bi Xiao-Hai playing 10 year old Xiang,
who is dealing with life after the death of his single parent father.
The movie flows nicely until near the end where it seems to stop abruptly and leave the audience with too many unanswered questions.
There is a lot of potential here and a great story but both are only briefly touched upon and not resolved at all.
Even so with the acting, and the humour it is still enjoyable. I feel that there should be a second part though.
Maybe called the EIGHTH PORTRAIT, since the number eight is linked with luck and fortune. Two things young Xiang could use more of.
