My first film of AFTER DARK FILM FESTIVAL 2010, Phobia 2 was an entertaining distraction from a busy day.
Maybe it should have had a more original tittle like Phobia 9, since the original was an anthology of four shorts about ghosts and this new one has five stories.
Do you need to see the first to enjoy the second? Normally, yes. This time not really, but it will make the experience better. The stories for the most part are stand alone pieces that deal with karma/revenge and of course ghosts.
The stories are original and good but the burning question is, is the "sequel" as good as the first?
Actually I enjoyed the first more, but still enjoyed the second.
A good start to this years festival for me.
Phobia 2
Novice A monk learns about karma the hard way.
Ward A young man's fear of hospitals is justified
Backpackers Sometimes its not who picks you up, but what they are carrying that is the problem.
Salvage Used car dealer learns the true value of carfax.
In the End Death and Taxes, the two only sure things, in the end.
A very funny Canadian short film was shown before the feature. Game Night.
A couple spends the evening playing a board game that was found in the basement with a guest.
Things turn ugly fast as secrets and more are revealed.
Both horrified and laughing the audience is rolled along with the dice and the colourful balloons.
