Sometimes when you watch as many movies as I do, on average about 400 a year, you tend to live and breath movies. As i am sure my friends will confess, I love to talk about movies, both ones I have seen and ones I have not seen, though the talk about ones I haven't seen is kept to a minimum, so as not to ruin anything when I eventually get around to watching that movie. With all this movie talk you sometimes learn about movies that become "classics" but still have not seen yet. Sometimes to the point where it seems like you have watched it, or seen bits and pieces but not the entire movie.
EXCALIBUR is like that. Until today I have not seen the entire movie but have seen parts and talked a lot about the movie. Even though dated a bit with acting more akin to the stage then the screen it is still a well made movie. If you like the sword fighting knight genre with a wicked magician thrown in then you will still enjoy this movie. Just don't expect any major special effects or CGI.
The movie does star Nigel Terry who was in THE LION IN WINTER, one of my all time favourite movies. Also stars Helen Mirren (THE QUEEN, R.E.D), Patrick Stewart (STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, X-MEN, THE LION IN WINTER (2003 remake of the 1968 original)), Gabriel Bryne (THE USUAL SUSPECTS, END OF DAYS as the Devil, one of the best things about that movie) and Liam Neeson (SCHINDLER'S LIST, TAKEN)
