Nov 26th LITTLE BIG MAN (DVD)

Dustin Hoffman is always amazing to watch. In my opinion he is one of the best actors, ever.
LITTLE BIG MAN was another movie mentioned in REEL INJUN, that was supposed to show natives in a new and different light then the westerns of old that were full of stereotypes. It does some of this, but of course the main character is still a white man, though here it is a white man who is raised by indians.
There are still stereotypes but the movie does show Natives as people. In the movie they refer to themselves as Human Beings and think of everyone else as animals and the white people are shown as major stereotypes and ridiculus charactures. The movie also briefly touches on two spirited people or gay native
people and how accepted they were in the Native community.
I was reminded of the movie BIG FISH (2003) a lot while watching LITTLE BIG MAN, though since the latter was made in 1970 it would have normally been the other way around.
I can honestly say one thing I dislike strongly in movies is a lot of voice over. I find it more of a distraction and think it takes away from a good movie.
