BEFORE WE RULED THE EARTH: HUNT OR HUNTED is a very informative and well made documentary about the world before Homosapiens were around. It is made as a drama with short lecture like breaks in between.
It was billed more as being about the animals that were around in the time before modern man, but turned out to be all about Neanderthals.
