Sept 16th TIFF 13 ASSASSINS

From a master director like Takeshi Miike (ICHI THE KILLER, SUKIYAKI WESTERN DJANGO) I was expecting something more original but glad to find was not disappointed in the entertainment area.
13 ASSASSINS was just too much like Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI with some of Inagaki's Chushingura, (47 Samurai) mixed in as well. Yes there are some great fight scenes and even get to know the characters a little bit so their antics and fates have more impact on the audience. This is one film
that may benefited from being longer.
Definitely a "male" movie as it was called but not very original, which is one thing always expect from Director MIIKE.
Will be interesting to see how it is received in Japan when released next week.
Not many samurai films out there nowadays so it was great to see one on the big screen.
